This family decided to have their family session in their neighborhood common areas. I love including a place that has meaning in client portraits, and their neighborhood was so adorable, so it was perfect. Tanya told me about how when they were building their house years ago, they would come to check on it as a family and then stroll through the neighborhood dreaming of when they would live their. How beautiful to include such a special place in their family photo session. There were beautiful walkways, lots of flowers and and nice landscaping, and a fun stone wall.
I had so much fun hanging out with Alayna and Jonah. Like most kids their ages (10 and 7), I think they came to the session not quite sure what to expect, but when they left they said that it was fun, which always makes me feel like I've accomplished something even before the photos are edited. I feel strongly that family photo sessions should be a happy memory - something that you enjoy looking back on, not a chore to be forced to do.
