Choosing Your Session Location

Here are some of my most frequently used locations to help you choose the perfect backdrop for your session. Keep in mind that variables like season, weather, and lighting can influence how a location appears in photos. My primary focus is always on the individuals being photographed, followed closely by lighting, and then the choice of location.

For an urban feel, I recommend Downtown Columbia (edgier, industrial vibe) or Downtown Franklin (classic charm that's special to many Franklin families). If you'd like to go inside a business for your session, you'll need to get permission in advance.

For natural, park settings, some of my favorites are Yanahli Park, The Park at Harlinsdale Farms, Sarah Benson Park, Chapman's Retreat Walking Trail, and Henry Horton State Park.

Locations with extra fees: South 40 Farm and The Factory at Franklin both require location permits. These spots offer incredible backdrops and are absolutely worth the additional fee for the right session.

High school campuses: These are fantastic options, especially for sports photos on the field or bleachers. You must get permission from your school before booking.

Other locations I've worked at: I've also photographed beautiful sessions at Pinkerton Park, Winstead Hill Park, Bowie Nature Preserve, McCewan North, The Parthenon (extra travel fee applies), and Preservation Park.

I'm happy to consider other locations you have in mind, though I do charge an additional travel fee for sessions beyond the Spring Hill/Columbia/Franklin area.
