This Fall family portrait session was supposed to be on Sunday but the rain washed us out.  I was very disappointed because months ago, I had been asked by some of my best friends and biggest supporters, when would be the best weekends for Fall pictures, and this was my best guess.  I was not wrong, as the color was gorgeous.  But that didn't stop the rain.  Fortunately, we were able to reschedule for Wednesday, so not too long to wait.

I've been photographing my dear friend Christy's family for years, including the birth of her youngest daughter Emmie.   But somehow she'd never managed to get a magic hour session, so rescheduling actually allowed for her to get one as she was the first of two shoots scheduled on Sunday.  Often, Brian's parents, Scott and Amy, have been included in the pictures with their beautiful grandchildren and I have just loved working with their entire family.

So Emmie, age 16 months, is the baby of our group of friends, and as such, we spoil her rotten.  And I say this with all the love, but she's a hot mess.  She's the sweetest, cutest, most adorable thing you ever did meet, but she does not stop moving.  I mean, ever.  She's one of those toddlers who you can't turn your back on for even a millisecond or she's grabbing something or climbing something or doing something that she shouldn't be doing.  So I had mentioned to Christy before that shoot that I was quite aware that Emmie was going to be a giant pain in the rear, but that I was also excited to see what we could get out of her wonderful personality.  Christy replied that I was so right and that she liked that I welcomed the challenge.  

I swear that child did this just to prove me wrong, but she was the easiest one year old ever for our shoot.  I mean, seriously posing and working it and doing whatever I asked.  Unbelievable.  And her big sisters Haley and Hannah also did an amazing job.  This may be one of my favorites shoots ever.  I apologize for the length of the blog post, but I just couldn't be forced to choose.

And oh, the leaves!  I am so hoping to get a few more weeks out of this gorgeous Autumn, because I am not ready to let her go yet!
