Camila's Newborn Shoot - No basket required | Spring Hill, TN Family Photographer

March 25, 2015  •  4 Comments

I have a confession to make.

I don't like taking pictures of swaddled babies placed in cozy baskets.  I know.  It's awful, right?  It's not that I hate those pictures...I know lots of photographers who do them beautifully well.

They just aren't me.

I fell in love with photography because I wanted to capture real moments.  I think that's what I love so much about birth photography.  At a birth no one ever insists that I get pictures of them cheesily smiling at my camera.  In fact, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say "cheese" during a birth.  Usually, they kind of forget I'm there and that's exactly the way I like it.

Then comes the "it" newborn photography.  Lots of blankets, baskets, wraps, hats, bows, etc.  It's just not me.  I give up.  I'm happier giving up.

THIS is what I want to shoot.  No basket required.

Oh that sweet yawn!Oh that sweet yawn!

I love your pictures. They will always bring back the feelings of tenderness and joy that a new baby arouses in the family.

Absolutely gorgeous pictures! I love the way you shoot. I'm so tired of posed studio pictures. The real ones are the best!
