I always hear the same types of things from parents of toddlers about how they aren't sure a photo session will "work" because their little ones won't cooperator or stand still. I like to tell my portrait clients to please not stress about it because I will take a thousand pictures and a few of them will be beautiful. That's just what it takes with very young children....patience, speed, and persistence. And when you get that shot...it's so worth it.

When it comes to my "niche" in photography, I consider it to be real life interactions...capturing emotion and connection between people is what really inspires me.  I feel like it's that connection that really links the different types of photo sessions that I do...whether it be family sessions, newborns, birth sessions, or candid documentary sessions like the one I shot of the Summit High School band.   <3

But if I had to pick one specific age group to be by niche in photography, 1 year olds to 4 year olds would be my choice, and it wouldn't be a hard one to make.    Not that they are easy...certainly not.  This age group will truly make you work for every single shot...especially for the group shots or sibling shots.  But they are so worth it.  Wild and free, there is no containing them in some little portrait studio.  I mean, just look at these two sweet babies.  How could you not love hanging out with them and freezing a moment in time when they didn't even know how to be anything but real.
