These girls are always a joy to photograph and this session was no exception. The whole family is so much fun and some of my favorite people.  We are starting to see the end of the fall color, but it was still a beautiful evening to be shooting.  I enjoy this particular location because of the variety it offers...brick walls, fences, woods, a path with a bridge and some open fields.  What more could a photographer ask for?

One thing I absolutely love about this family is that they always approach our photo session with the right attitude.  One of the biggest things I hate to hear on a photo session is for parents to tell children, "Just be good and we can get this over with."  What???  Am I trying to torture you?  I hate that for two reasons.  First, it sends the wrong message to the kids.  Second, it makes me feel rushed and that doesn't fit my style at all.  I'm not aiming to get a couple shots of your family saying cheese (a word I also hate) and looking at the camera.  I'm trying to capture real interaction.  This isn't the Sears Portrait Studio.  How about instead of "Let's get this over with," let's send the message that a portrait session is supposed to be a fun outing for kids and families...something to actually look forward to each time? If you go into it with that attitude, I guarantee your photos will be better for it.
