Last week I had a Grandmother contact me wanting me to shoot a lifestyle portrait session with her two sons and their wives and her three grandchildren at her backyard pool in Franklin, TN.  One of her sons and his family were visiting from Iowa for the week and she wanted to take the opportunity to shoot all the cousins together. I thought it was a wonderful idea and such a good way to capture the kids having fun and being together as a family, and luckily was able to fit her in this week while they were in town.  

They were such a fun family to shoot.  It was a hot summer evening, and perfect for splashing around in the pool.  There was so much love and laughter to be captured.  I hope I was able to capture a special memory for this fun family.  This is exactly why I love lifestyle photography so much...I think the place and the time of this session were so important to the story that I have been hired to tell.  To have shot a formal portrait session in a studio would definitely not tell the story of this family's love as well as a fun time at Dat Dat and Grammy's house.  Thankfully, we were able to finish the session before the summer storm came.  

As a side note, I think I have fallen in love with shooting red heads.  Especially red heads in a pool.  There is something about the bright beautiful color of their hair next to the teal green of the pool water that I find so beautiful.  So, someone needs to find me more red headed children to photograph.
