Get in the Frame - Week 3 of 52 | Spring Hill, TN Family PhotographerI cherish these sweet moments with my Kayla Bear. She was telling me about her day at school. They learned about Martin Luther King, Jr. today and we were talking about how it's important to learn about him so that we can learn from mistakes of the past. She asked me once again, like she has several times before, why people are said to be "black" or "white" when to her eyes, there are all sorts of shades of people. It's so hard for her to understand any of it. Then she start to talk to me some more about our planet and how people should take better care of it and not litter. She cares so much about animals and the world around her. Recently, we went to a birthday party where the party-goers were asked to make a donation in the birthday girl's honor rather than bring a gift. I had Kayla choose where to make a donation to and she immediately told me she wanted us to help an organization that works on preventing overfishing. She is very concerned that humans are taking more than our share of fish from the ocean and it's affecting all the animals, such as polar bears, who don't have enough fish to eat. So I had to google, but found her the Ocean Conservatory. I am constantly in awe of her amazing heart. I know she will do beautiful things one day.
