Sledding & Snowball Fights - A Guest Post by 9 year old Megan | Spring Hill, TN PhotographerNote from me: Confession - I struggle with writing descriptive text for my blog posts. I am definitely a picture is worth 1000 words kind of gal, but recognize that my blog needs words. My nine year old daughter, Megan, has a gift for words. So an idea came to me - outsourcing. For free. Win! Too bad she doesn't go with me to photo sessions, because then she could write those too. I hope you enjoy her beautiful words on our fun day sledding during a rare Spring Hill snow day. Words by 9 year old Megan Freemon. Photos by Crystal Freemon:Today was practically a blizzard for Spring Hill, Tennessee. A blanket of snow had fallen atop the ground by the morning. It was an injustice to simply stay inside all day, so one word lingered in our minds: sledding. So, it's off to the store for the parents (there had never been a need for sleds before). New coats were pulled on tightly, and fingers wriggled secure into each finger of the mittens. Warm hats were adorned on top of cold heads, and several layers of clothing were worn (in case things got a little bit wet). Boots trudged through the snow of Chapman's Retreat. Had we have not been wearing coats, the car would've been turned up to about eighty degrees! Finally, we arrived. Miss Chelsea, Mrs. Michelle, Molly, Lilly, Emily, Ashley, and Chloe were already there. Sharing sleds, we began. First, I went down by myself. It was awesome. Then, Molly and my little sister, Kayla, went down. Molly thought it was awesome. Kayla did not.
She stayed in the car the rest of the time warming up and watching a movie. Despite my difficulty actually getting up the hill, I had a good time. On the way to the car for a break/warm-up, I walked right in front of Emily and Chloe riding down the hill together. They stopped right at the bottom of the hill, and Emily said, "Annnnd- we stopped." I laughed and remarked sarcastically, "Well, that was successful, wasn't it?" The next thing I knew, Chloe had thrown a snowball at me playfully (bulls-eye, she got me right in the face!).
When I returned from the car, all warm and toasty, I found that a snowball fight had broken out. I also found my target: Miss Chelsea. Gathering some thick snow, I launched quickly. My snowball hit her square in the back. "It's on!" She threw one back at me. I ran for it, and dodged it stealthily, but slipped on some snow and fell on my butt. Talk about karma. My dad (the best snowball maker I know) threw one at me right as I got up, and it hit me in the shoulder. Inferring that he and Miss Chelsea had teamed up, I took into action the first thing I thought of- "Molly, wanna team up for the snowball fight?" I yelled. Molly hurried over and created a snowball. I launched. She launched. I launched. She got closer to her mom and got into position. Miss Chelsea did the same. Then, Molly turned around so that her mom faced her back. "Just hit me."
Overall, my family and I had a great time sledding and snowball fighting. I hope the snow doesn't go away too soon. Happy winter, everybody!
