When Sarah contacted me to schedule family portraits, she told me that with one daughter away at college, it was difficult to get everyone together for a family portrait.  It was important to her to use the brief time that Jessica would be home visiting, to get all five family members together for pictures.  It had been several years since they had pictures done, and were excited to have big sister, Jessica home for a visit.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous for our session.  It had rained for days the week before, but the weekend turned out beautiful.  Sarah had chosen Pinkerton Park for her session location, and when we arrived for the session, there was a surprise there waiting on us.  The hot air balloons were flying over Pinkerton Park!  If you are from the area, you know it's not uncommon to see Middle Tennessee Hot Air Adventures flying around on a gorgeous day, but to have them right there for my photo shoot was so fun!  Though, I still didn't expect them to be low enough or at the right spot to really make a good photograph. But then this happened:

Photobombed by a hot air balloon What made it extra special is that this particular bridge is always swarmed with photographers, and Sunday was no exception.  We had to wait our turn for the bridge while I snapped a few photos nearby.  Once the bridge opened up, I rushed the family back to the bridge so we'd be sure to get our turn before someone else showed up.  Then, as I'm shooting, we totally got photo-bombed by a hot air balloon.  Talk about perfect timing. 

Unfortunately, the balloon didn't follow us around for the entire shoot, but that was OK because this family was a blast to hang out with. The chemistry between these siblings was awesome.  I could just see how happy the three of them were to be together with their big sister home. There was lots of fun and silliness.  Luke (Ok, his name is really Scott but he'll answer to Luke now) was such a character and had us all laughing.  And photographing Jessica and Grace was a joy! They were so comfortable in front of the camera...both could be models easily.
