A gift for Ella and Sol | Spring Hill, TN Family PhotographerWhen Jenn contacted me about this session, she told me that she wanted to give her girls Ella (9) and Sol (6) a gift at the session and to have me capture their reaction on camera. She had a secret she'd been keeping from the girls, and I just loved her idea for sharing it with them. Their sweet dog Perdita was able to join in on the family fun as well! We started out with a few family shots on this gorgeous spring day. It was kind of muddy, so I was glad I had stored a pretty quilt in my trunk, but the light was beautiful.
Then it was time for the girls to get their gifts. They opened the boxes and found beautiful T-shirts inside that spelled out mom and dad's secret. It took them a few moments to understand what was happening, as they read the shirts. Sol's shirt said "Big Sister", and Ella's said, "Big Sister Again." As Ella read them a couple of times, she pondered "Again?". Then she said, "Wait...are you having another baby?"
When Mom said yes, this was the reaction:
Absolutely priceless. And so much fun for a photos session. Once the girls heard the news, they had to run back to Mom and Dad for a family hug.
They were a bit excited about their new baby brother or sister.
Perdita was excited too.
This one might be my favorite.
Mom and Dad seem pretty stoked too.
After the big surprise, I gave the girls a chance to run off some of their excitement.
Then we went for a walk down the walking trail. I love the light that can be captured here just before sunset. It's magical.
And of course I can never ever pass up an opportunity to photograph a kid with a dandelion. I mean, it is in my logo for a reason.
Love the flower crowns that Jenn had for the girls. Aren't they both just stunning.
With the gorgeous sunset and the flower crowns, the girls made me think of fairies...especially when they were dancing in the forest area.
