Last night, I had the pleasure of shooting such a fun family photo session.  The family said that they hadn't had family photo sessions in so long.  I hear this from a lot of families and I think one of the reasons families wait so long to schedule portrait sessions is that getting your family pictures made can be stressful.  That's why creating a pleasant portrait experience is so important to me.  I want families to love their pictures, but I also want them to have fun while creating them.  That's why I prepare my parents ahead of time by sending them a document on what to expect during their portrait session.  I let them know that we will be shooting for about an hour, but that much of that time will be playing and having fun.  We stop as often as necessary for the kids to have a break from the posing.  I shoot pretty much the entire time, but often my favorite photos are taken during these "breaks".

I had not met the Pfund family before our session, but I fell in love with them right from the start.  Mom Julie and I have several friends in common and both are on the PTO's for our kids' elementary schools.  Dad was laid back and easy going, which I love.  (So many times Dads get impatient.  LOL.)  The girls, Sophie and Delaney, are just a few years younger than my girls.  They were such fun to shoot.  We danced, made silly faces, fart noises (I'm not above bathroom humor...it works), jumped and ran.  And of course we giggled.  That's a requirement.

I was a little annoyed at the new construction going on at Harlinsdale Farms as it cluttered up my background options, but I was pleased to find a nice little hill in perfect line with the sunset that was perfect for creating silhouettes.
