Brownlee Family - It's about time | Spring Hill, TN Family PhotographerThis is the family of one of my closest friends, Michelle, but this is the first time I've ever done a session for her family. Her primary reason for putting it off for so long is that she didn't think her youngest, Tessa, would cooperate. Tessa can be camera phobic and often hides her face when someone tries to take her photo. I think both girls did an amazing job, and I think a big part of that was that Michelle and Steve did an amazing job. Not long before their session, I posted a blog post about the importance of having a good attitude about your session. Michelle said she read the post and made the comment to me that she had made sure not to make a big deal of our sessions with the kids and told them just to "have fun with Ms. Crystal." They had a slight disagreement about clothing because Sabrina, the oldest, loves all things glittery and sparkly and Michelle wanted something more neutral for their photos, but they were able to come to a compromise (new boots help). (By the way, I loved their clothing choices...very nice and didn't compete for attention with the people.) During the session, Michelle and Steve completely let me take control. If Tessa didn't want her photo taken, I didn't...I ignored her and focused on Sabrina. Each time, she almost immediately wanted in on the action. If her parents had stepped it and turned it into a power struggle, it would have ended badly....with photos of an upset little girl, perhaps faking it but not having fun. But because they took all the advice I had given them in the information I always send out before a session, the shoot was a huge success. Look at these GORGEOUS little girls. I am so glad I got the opportunity to photograph them.

You made it so easy. Not just because we are friends but because it was a relaxed fun atmosphere for the girls. Tessa tenses up and stops cooperating the second she feels expectations. Allowing her to do her own thing make it a stress free experience.
