Williamson County Fair 2016 - A Family Tradition![]() ![]() Last year I did a post about how the Williamson County Fair is my happy place, and that I demand for my family to take me there each year on my birthday. We've been going since my oldest Megan was just a baby. When you're the child of a photographer, you get sick of having your photo taken, but the rule each year is that it's my birthday and no one is allowed to complain about how many pictures I want to take. I especially love photographing the lights, colors and people at the fair...and the rides. Each year I like to photograph the kids at the Little Farmers exhibit. I have pictures of them there each year since Megan was barely walking. She's almost too old for the exhibit now, but I've told her she must continue to do it until she's at least 18...I don't care how ridiculous she looks with her tiny fake fishing pole, or planting imaginary vegetables. It's tradition. And you can't mess with tradition. Thankfully that is one thing my tween and I agree on....her obsessive compulsive nature won't allow her to stray from a path once it's become a tradition. Notice her tie dyed shirt for example and then read last years post. My youngest is obsessed with the animals at the fair. I've never been very fond of goats. My dad used to joke that sheep go to heaven and goats go to hell and I agreed with him...I mean if it's in a Cake song, it must be true. But Lucky Ladd Farms provided baby goats for the barnyard this year and even I thought they were adorable. I thought we were going to drag Kayla out of there. That is seriously her own personal little heaven. I love the light that dances into the barn at magic hour and love capturing Kayla's joy with that light around her. The sky was quite a bit different this year from last. It was a stormy, dark sky that threatened rain that never came. It allowed for some interestingly dramatic photographs. My only regret is that we didn't get to spend more time there, since we couldn't go until the girls got home from school, and they had school the next day. I would have loved to have more time to capture photos of the girls riding more rides in the daytime, thought I do love the nighttime shots. Love these pictures?
