5 Years Ago in a Galaxy Far Far Away....5 Years Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away...Jackson was born. And what an epic Star Wars themed birthday party this was for Jackson. Jackson's mom, Nicole, is one of the most fabulous party throwers I've ever met. You may recognize her from my blog post on Jackson's sister Scarlett's Strawberry Shortcake Third Birthday and her Fairy Tea Party Second Birthday. She wanted to hire me to photograph Jackson's Fourth Birthday Party, but unfortunately I was out of town for that one. But I'm so glad I was able shoot his Star Wars party, because it was completely adorable, and tons of fun for all of Jackson's little guests. The food was amazing as always, with Boba-Q Pulled Pork being the main dish, served alongside Yodamole, C3-Potato Salad and Princess Lays Chips. There were plenty of options for dessert as well, including C3PO Pops, Wookie Cookies, and Light Sabers (chocolate covered pretzels). And of course, that GORGEOUS Star Wars Cake. Drinks for the kids included Yoda Soda and Luke Sky-Water. For grownups who were looking to join the Dark Side, there delicious Cocktails available. Besides the food, there was plenty of fun activities for the kids, including an awesome obstacle course, and Jedi training performed by Yoda. Then special guest, Darth Vador showed up to the party. The children loved putting their new light saber skills to use attacking Darth Vader. I have to say that a few times I was afraid for my life when shooting in the middle of the action, but it's all in a days work and I survived without injury. The force must have been with me. The kids loved hitting the Pinata and the grown ups managed to prevent anyone being hit in the head with the bat, so score one for the light side. One of my favorite things about photographing events like this is capturing the candid moments of the children just having fun and enjoying the day...whether that be for the scheduled activities, or just running around chasing each other with light sabers. Doesn't it just make you smile to see the joy on those faces? I know that Jackson's mom (and lots of other family members) worked so hard to give him this party...I'm sure that joy made it so worth it.
